Assigning a Secondary Technician

Within Dispatch, any user with Dispatcher access can assign Secondary Technicians to an appointment. Adding Secondary Technicians has multiple benefits.

The video below demonstrates how to assign multiple technicians to an appointment.

When creating or editing an appointment, you will first have the option to add a Primary Technician. After adding a Primary, you will then see the Add Another (+) button. Clicking this button will allow you to add a Secondary Technician. You can repeat this process to add as many Secondary technicians to an appointment as you require.

After clicking Schedule, you will see the appointment on the schedule in solid colors for the Primary technician and in a lighter color for any Secondary Technicians. You will also see routes via the map for both Primary and Secondary Technicians.


Important Things to Know

The secondary technician is able to:

  • View job details
  • Add photos to the job
  • Add notes to the job
  • Create Estimates and Invoices

A secondary technician on an appointment is not able to update the appointment status.  This means that only the primary technician can complete the following actions:

  • Press the 'On My Way' button
  • Press 'Appointment Started'
  • Mark the appointment as Completed

Additionally, it is important to note that secondary technicians will not receive a notification when they are assigned to the appointment. 

Secondary Technicians are not able to make status updates and will instead see the
                      status button greyed out as in the image above

The Routes for Secondary Technicians (seen in green and blue) is visible via the Map View in Work
